The Gail Program
“When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a way that when you die the world cries and you rejoice.” ~ White Elk
The Gail Program, named for Gail Ann Schmidt (1953 – 2014), is a memorial program that allows family and friends to honor their loved ones by making a donation in their honor.
For a (tax deductible) $500 donation, we will plant a beautiful succulent in our brand new Gail Garden (located just behind the field where five of our horses currently reside) and have a plaque engraved with the following message:
In loving memory of
[insert name here]
[year of birth] – [year of death]
This plaque will be displayed right next to your loved one’s succulent.
We chose to plant succulents for several reasons. Here in the Sonoran Desert, our plants are beautiful but they have to be tough in order to survive our harsh desert climate. Succulents’ endurance in the face of hardship represents the enduring, timeless love we have for those who no longer walk with us here on Earth.
100% of your $500 donation will go to the medical care and feeding of 33 previously abused, neglected, injured, and unwanted horses and will be accompanied with a donation receipt for your tax records.
If you are interested in making a donation in honor of a loved one, please feel free to call us at 480-469-9166 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org today. To donate, please head over to our donate page and select “Gail Program Memorial Donation” under “I would like to designate this donation to a specific fund.”
Lastly, while all other visits require an appointment, we allow and encourage you to visit your memorial as you please, any day of the year within our normal business hours of 7:30am to 11am.
On behalf of your loved one and our herd here at Tierra Madre, thank you for your donation.
