8/11/15

At our first annual benefit dinner and silent auction this past Saturday, we raised just over $8,700 for our horses!

So many wonderful people attended the event and we all had a great evening of good food, laughter, speeches, a clip of our documentary, live entertainment, country music, bidding on awesome baskets and items, catching up, and celebrating the lives of 33 horses that make our world go round.

Many thanks to the Carefree Resort and Conference Center for setting up our room for the evening and working with us tirelessly to plan the perfect event. The service we received during setup and during the evening was simply out of this world. Everything was done with a smile and all the small things that needed to be done magically took care of themselves before I even thought to ask. They were all simply wonderful.

A huge thanks also goes to Lanae from Designs by Lanae for jumping in last minute and creating our programs and bidding numbers, helping with the centerpieces, making food identifiers and table numbers, and bringing her own western props and flowers to make our room come alive! All the small details really made a difference.

Additionally, huge props to Alec from Target Training International for bringing and running our AV equipment for the evening! I must have run back and forth asking for my mic to be turned on a thousand times during the benefit and he didn’t complain once.

Lastly, many many many MANY thank yous go to the incredible volunteers who arrived early and stayed late to help set up and clean up. Additionally, these volunteers helped with the check in/check out processes and during the auction! Everywhere I turned, I heard: “What else can I do?” I was blown away by how amazing they were and are.

All of this just goes to show it is absolutely astounding what we can do when we’re all on the same team. 33 horses in the middle of the Sonoran Desert brought people of all walks of life together, and for that alone, I know we will all love them forever.

Thank you to those who attended, and I hope you are already looking forward to next year!
